Dental specialists complete two to six extra years of training after dental school and usually work on referral from a general dentist, although most accept patients who call directly. Orthodontists straighten teeth with braces and clear aligners; endodontists handle root canals; periodontists treat gum disease and place implants; oral and maxillofacial surgeons extract wisdom teeth, place implants and do jaw surgery, often under IV sedation; prosthodontists rebuild smiles with crowns, bridges and dentures; denture centers focus on full and partial dentures, relines and repairs. Sedation and hospital dentists serve anxious patients and people with special needs, while TMJ and sleep-apnea dentists make oral appliances for jaw pain and snoring.

Raleigh is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Raleigh is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I was referred to this practice by my Dentistβs office (May 2025) and while the Endodontist and his assistant were cordial, the overall services received from this practice were disappointing to say the least. BCE is very small, consisting of one Endodontist and one Assistant. Additionally there is no designated help at their front desk to check you in/out so for the most part, everything is handled and processed by the doctor and emails managed by the assistant which slowed things down with regard to check in/out, return calls and responses to emails. I had a root canal re-treatment performed and not long after, I developed an abscess. Dr. Johnson stated that this was a normal part of the process and to expect for it to go away and return several times before getting better. But oh, it wasnβt actually getting better, in fact it got worse. When asked if the abscess could be removed, he said no so nothing more was done other than being told that it would resolve with time. In the meantime, the abscess was growing and now formed into two abscesses. Preparing to head out for vacation (mid July), concerned about the issue, I reached out to my original dentist (the place who re

Dr. Johnson was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He made sure I could understand the procedure, and he also clearly explained the financials himself, ensuring that I had no problems at all from start to finish. During the procedure, Dr. Johnson and his assistant were very friendly and demonstrated exceptional communication skills. I could tell they are truly passionate about what they do. Everything progressed so smoothly from the time I stepped into this wonderful office. I very highly recommend Dr. Johnson! Brier Creek Endodontics exceeded my expectations and fell nothing short of perfection. Thank you, Dr. Johnson!

Highly recommend you go to Brier Creek Endodontics for any root canal work that may be required. I've been here twice for dental care and Dr. Johnson and his staff are very professional and welcoming. He's very gentle and patient. I was very nervous the entire time but I barely felt a thing...that's why I went the second time, after the first visit I didn't trust anyone else to be as skilled. I highly recommend Dr. Johnson if you need an Endodontist.

Dr. Johnson and staff were very friendly, patient, and professional. They made sure that I knew the plan of treatment and made sure that I was fine every step of the way. The office had a very relaxing atmosphere and was very clean. I did not want to have to have a root canal treatment but Iβm thankful that it was done Brier Creek Endodontics.
